The PPS Foundation was established in 2016 with the primary goal of improving access to the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields and promoting sustainable development in South African communities.

In addition to supporting students via the Bursary Programme, the University Support Programme was established to enhance the teaching and learning experiences at tertiary institutions across South Africa by providing historically disadvantaged universities and their faculties with funding to enhance their infrastructure and equipment, thereby equipping educators with the necessary tools to deliver world-class education.

In 2022 our programme made significant efforts to create a greater impact, and as such, funded the upgrades of 5 university facilities across the country.

The University of the Western Cape required financial assistance in order to upgrade their Postgraduate Dentistry Centre, and Sefako Makgatho University required funding for the renovation of their Dental lecture hall. The PPS Foundation headed their calls. PPS has a long history of supporting healthcare, dating back to its establishment in 1941 by a group of 8 dentists. Today, the PPS Foundation continues to honour its roots by investing in projects such as these, that improve both healthcare and education in South Africa. By improving the infrastructure available to students studying dentistry, the PPS Foundation is helping to ensure that future generations of dentists are

equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide top-quality care to patients across the country.

The PPS Foundation also supported and facilitated upgrades to the Postgraduate centres for the engineering faculty at the University of Johannesburg, and the law faculty at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. We also funded the upgrade of the University of Pretoria’s veterinary science equipment faculty.

Over and above the funding we provided these institutions, we also maintained our partnership with Rise Against Hunger Africa who provide nourishment to our future graduates to improve their focus and inevitably their success. A meal packing event was held at the University of Limpopo, and all these meals were donated to the students. Sefako Makgatho University also received meal packs for their students during the year. Meals and clothes were donated to assist those who were affected by the KZN floods.

This investment in education not only supports the development of skilled professionals but also contributes to the overall well-being of South African communities. The PPS Foundation remains committed to supporting tertiary institutions and students in any way possible to fulfill our mission and legacy of building a better future together.

You too can help nurture the potential of our youth. Donate today to help the PPS Foundation increase the reach and impact of its programmes.
