PPS For Professionals

Where I belong … because I am a graduate professional

With a few months left of 2017, I can confidently say that being part of the PPS Graduate Internship Development Programme has been and still is an honour.

The memory of receiving the phone call that changed my life for the better is still so vivid in my mind. It was just after my final year exams at university when I was called in for an interview.

A few months later, obviously with a positive outcome, my journey with PPS began. With this being my first time job straight out of university, the organisation has lived up to the “Where graduate professionals belong” motto, and I have never doubted this for one second.

From the moment I walked through the doors, I had a sense of ease, which was influenced by the environment and how the people interacted with me, making it easy for me to step into the professional world. The PPS Graduate Internship Development Programme simply verified that I am at the right company, for the right job.

With my BCom Information Systems Honours in hand, I was ready to take on my new role as part of the IT Security division. I must share this, and honestly so, I realised that what one does in the workplace has almost nothing to do with what they studied in tertiary. The theoretical background gives you a slight idea of what to do in practice. Thus far, my experience felt as if I was starting a new degree from scratch, and as weird as this may come across, it is what made my job more exciting. After all, the learning never stops.

At the end of the day, it’s not about what I think I know, but about how much more I am willing to learn to get the job done efficiently.

What I love about the programme is that we are provided with monthly training suited to your career plans and trajectory. To top it all off, we even have an opportunity to study further!

As a strong-willed individual that has a passion to constantly learn and improve my current skills, I believe that there’s a greater chance for me to explore my interest in information systems at PPS.
