LEAP Work-Readiness Programme overview
LEAP Work-Readiness Programme gaining popularity and reach
LEAP, short for Learned, Engaged, Accelerated Professionals is a programme developed to equip students and young graduates with the necessary life skills and confidence demanded by the work environment. The programme aims to bridge the gap between tertiary learning and the workplace, thereby assisting students in attaining and maintaining employment. The LEAP Work-Readiness Programme has grown in popularity, with as many as 700 students participating in the programme in 2021. The workshops – conducted both online and in a hybrid format – were well-received by participants who provided positive feedback and gratitude. The equally-important skills taught in the workshops are CV writing, personal branding (digital presence), interview skills and consumer financial education, all of which are essential proficiencies needed to excel in the working world. In 2021, the PPS Foundation partnered with PPS Life Broker Services, PPS Advisory Services and Enablement and the Ikusasa Student Financial Aid Programme to make these workshops possible and impactful for all participants.

ISFAP AIMS TO FAST TRACK SOUTH AFRICA’S
SKILLS PRODUCTION
For the 21st Century
Ikusasa Student Financial Aid Programme Foundation NPC (ISFAP) partnered with the PPS Foundation for the Learned, Engaged, Accelerated Professionals (LEAP) Work-Readiness Programme in 2021. ISFAP was established as a funding model to sustainably cater for the higher education needs and costs of South Africa’s poor and middle-class students while LEAP bridges the gap between education and the workplace by providing students with the necessary confidence and life skills.

ISFAP aims to fast-track South Africa’s skills production for the 21st
century. Its main objective is to fund the higher education costs of
students mainly studying for a career in occupations of high demand.
The Human Resources Development Council identified these careers as
critical to South Africa’s economic development. These include
actuaries, accountants, engineers, medical doctors, and IT and data
scientists. These careers also require some of the longest and most
expensive education paths. The fit with PPS was obvious and perfect –
PPS works with professionals to provide exceptional benefits that are
customised to their needs as professionals. By bringing the two
organisations together, we could support young graduates to achieve
their dreams of one day becoming professionals that can become
positive contributors to the South African economy.
Our partnership with the PPS Foundation and our involvement in the
LEAP Work-Readiness Programme allowed us to prepare our graduates for
their journey post-academic completion.
Youth unemployment is one of the greatest challenges facing our
country. Equipping young graduates with critical work-readiness skills
such as CV writing, interview skills and personal branding, among
others, helps them to stand out in their job search and get their
first job opportunities.
ISFAP value the partnership with the PPS Foundation and will continue
to pursue further areas of collaboration with the foundation in the
near future. Together, we begin to reverse the negative trend of youth
unemployment in this country by helping young South Africans achieve
their dreams of higher education and gainful professional employment.
One mission and one goal.
You too can help nurture the potential of our youth. Donate today to help the PPS Foundation increase the reach and impact of its programmes.
