Donate towards empowering and educating future graduates

Published: March 6, 2020

The tagline “success is better, shared” remains pertinent in promoting excellence in education. Education is known to be a vital component towards improving the economy, skills & development and increasing job opportunities. Recently, the matric class of 2019 made history by exceeding an 80% pass rate for the first time. This shows that there is potential for developing a culture that excels in skills development.

To aid students who have little to no resources during their academic journey, the PPS Foundation is inviting professionals and South Africans at large to make monetary donations to their various programmes ahead of the 2020 tax year end season. This forms part of the efforts that will help the PPS Foundation – a public benefit organisation (PBO) – garner funds that will help further its mission to educate future graduates and empower the minds that will move this country forward. The funds accumulated will be used to provide financial support and drive ongoing activities which are intended to improve the teaching and learning experience during and beyond the 2020 academic year.

To contribute towards the Foundation’s vision and programmes, members of the public can make donations via https://ppsfoundation.pps.co.za/ before the end of tax season on 29 February 2020 and take advantage of reducing their tax liability while contributing towards improving society. In donating to public benefit organisations like the PPS Foundation, tax deductions are limited to 10% of the taxpayer’s taxable income. All donors who donate R100 or more to the PPS Foundation will receive a Section 18A certificate and could qualify for a tax deduction.

Through the funds received from its primary donor and others, over the last two years, the PPS Foundation comprehensively funded well over 200 students, provided job opportunities to just over 60 graduates through the PPS Graduate Internship Development Programme, and supported public universities with computer labs, work study programmes and other development initiatives. Qualifications the Foundation supports range from MBChB, Actuarial Sciences, BCom (Marketing Management, Econ & Risk Investment), BSc (Biotechnology, Physiotherapy, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Agriculture, Microbiology and Biochemistry) and LLB.

“We are pleased to announce that 22 students have completed their studies in 2019 and will be graduating this year. The PPS Foundation’s mandate to improve access to quality tertiary education is vital in the modern South African context because we are still solving for an issue that many of our youth need support for. The donations made are for a noble cause and national imperative to grow one graduate professional at a time and we hope that members of the public will heed the call and take advantage of the tax season opportunity while paying it forward,” says Masenyane Molefe, Executive Trustee of the PPS Foundation.
